Almost 94% of early spring crops planted in Belarus

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Early spring crops have been planted on 93.9% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,424,900 hectares, which is 60.2% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 578,100 hectares, which is 93.9% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 33,300 hectares, which is 54% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 100,900 hectares (97.8%), maize on 506,500 hectares (41.3%), including grain maize (81.9%), potatoes on 7,630 hectares (45.7%), vegetables on 2,710 hectares (53.9%).

Annual grasses were planted on 133,300 hectares, which is 60.7% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 41,900 hectares, which is 84.5% of the plan.
