MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) - The situation in the region and ways to enhance humanitarian contacts were discussed during a meeting between Yuri Yaroshevich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel, and His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Yuri Yaroshevich acknowledged the Patriarch’s attentive stance toward Belarus, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the spiritual ties and traditions that unite peoples. He also expressed deep gratitude for the consistent support extended to pilgrims visiting the Holy Land.

“The Belarusian diplomat also requested assistance for a Belarusian delegation to participate in the ceremony of the Holy Fire ceremony on Great Saturday. In turn, Patriarch Theophilos III conveyed his best wishes to Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, and expressed readiness to visit Belarus,” the press service of the Belarusian ministry said.

The parties exchanged views on the current situation in the region and discussed the resumption of direct flights between Belarus and Israel, which would help intensify pilgrimage and humanitarian contacts, including visits by high-level delegations.
