Belarus eyes e-trade with Africa

08/12/2025 09:12
Belarus is interested in developing electronic trade with African countries, Aleksandr Osmolovsky, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), said in an interview with STV television channel, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about exchange-based exports, Aleksandr Osmolovsky noted that about 30% of this export goes to former Soviet Union countries. “The remaining export is precisely to faraway countries. That is why Africa is of great interest to us today,” he said.

The chairman of the Board emphasized that electronic trade today is multifaceted. “The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange not only organizes electronic trading but also promotes these goods through institutions like brokers. It is here, on the African continent, in Algeria, that we have found a company that will become our broker. They are professional players on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and a company that knows the Algerian region directly and the specifics of doing business there,” he said.
