Belarus’ FM: Security guarantees should be mutual in the Union State

06/12/2024 14:12
MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - Security guarantees should be mutual in the Union State, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told the media ahead of the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.

“Initially there was an idea of security guarantees from Russia with regard to Belarus, but we live in the Union State, and if we are partners, reliable allies and brothers, the guarantees should be mutual. This is the spirit of the agreement,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he commented on the agreement on security guarantees within the Union State, prepared by Belarus and Russia.

According to him, the provisions of the document fully satisfy both parties.

“Initially we proceeded from the fact that if we support each other, we support with all the arsenal that we have,” the minister added.

“Including Oreshnik?” the journalists asked.

“Yes, it turns out so,” Maksim Ryzhenkov replied.
