The Belarusian government has introduced licensing for potato export for three months. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko signed the relevant resolution, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.
In order to fully satisfy the domestic demand for agricultural products in between seasons, the government has introduced licensing for exporting potatoes. Regardless of their country of origin potatoes can be exported using one-time licenses issued by the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry with approval of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the oblast administrations, and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
The authorized government agencies will make decisions on granting such a license or not depending on whether Belarus has supplies to spare and depending on the country’s need for this particular product at the time when the license is being granted.
