The giant bison sculpture along the M1 highway on the border of Brest Oblast and Minsk Oblast, now roars in addition to emitting steam,
BelTA learned from the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.
“The sound effect works together with the special ‘living breath’ feature: the giant metal bison roars and releases thick clouds of steam from its nostrils. The show starts automatically every hour,” Brest Oblast Executive Committee said.
The sculpture began emitting steam from its nostrils in June. Engineers developed custom software and installed special equipment inside the structure to bring the landmark to life. The giant releases clouds of steam more than five meters into the air. Visitors can watch the display from 9:00 until sunset.
Work on the special effects has continued.“The bison roars first and then releases steam. Anyone standing next to the sculpture can also activate the sound effect at any time of the day by pressing a special button on the zubr1region.by website,” the Brest Oblast Executive Committee said. The roar lasts about ten seconds.
The giant bison is one of the best-known landmarks of Brest Oblast. The sculpture, created by craftsmen from Pinsk, was installed in 2003. There are also plans to open a cafe nearby.
