Belarus plants over 20% of spring crop areas

Over 20% of the areas designated for spring crops have been sown in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

“As of 6 April, spring crops were planted on an area of 472,000 hectares, which accounted for 21% of the total sowing area of 2.295 million hectares,” the press service reported.

The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast planted 120,000 hectares (29% of planned areas); Grodno Oblast - 101,000 hectares (30%); Minsk Oblast - 84,000 hectares (17%); Gomel Oblast - 68,000 hectares (17%); Mogilev Oblast - 53,000 hectares (16%); Vitebsk Oblast - 46,000 hectares (14%).

Flax has been planted on 14,000 hectares (28% of the 50,000-hectare target). 

Sugar beet sowing has been completed on more than 22,000 hectares, or 21% of the 106,000-hectare plan.

Spring soil tillage has been carried out on 1,045,000 hectares or 76% of the planned 1.375 million hectares.

Mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) for the 2026 spring campaign have been procured in the amount of 682,000 tonnes of active ingredient accounting for 81% of the plan. Organic fertilizers for spring sowing have been transported in the amount of 27 million tonnes, or 56% of the amount transported.
