MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - The CIS Council of Heads of News Agencies is one of the longest-standing bodies of cooperation in the post-Soviet space, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev said in his welcome address to the participants of the 30th meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State News Agencies, which is taking place in Minsk on 15 December. “At the summit in October 2023 our heads of state paid close attention to the issues of cooperation in the information space. Today the CIS Council of Heads of State News Agencies is holding its 30th meeting. The Council has been working in the CIS space for 28 years. It is one of the longest-standing bodies of cooperation in the post-Soviet space, which provides information support for integration processes in the region,” the CIS secretary general said.
In his words, the current meeting is a great opportunity to take stock of interaction processes, discuss topical issues of cooperation, exchange experience, establish partnership and friendly ties with colleagues.
“Next year has been declared the Year of Volunteer Movement in the CIS. I am convinced that the decisions taken by the Council will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the states and implementation of important joint projects in the information space,” the CIS secretary general said.
Sergei Lebedev expressed special gratitude to BelTA for organizing the extraordinary meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State News Agencies in Minsk. “It is symbolic that BelTA is celebrating its 105th anniversary these days. The CIS Executive Committee congratulates Belarus’ oldest agency in the post-Soviet space on this anniversary and wishes fruitful work and success in achieving all the tasks,” he said.
