The Cuban people are inspired by the example of resilience shown by the defenders of the Brest Fortress and the Belarusian partisans, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Pйrez Benнtez said during the plenary session of the 2nd international interparty conference in Brest on 28 May, BelTA has learned.
“Only together, uniting at the level of parties, youth organizations, and the general public, can we mobilize. The fact that this conference is taking place in Belarus speaks to the high significance and importance of the Belarusian state in these processes. If we remain divided, we will not be able to cope with the challenges that exist in the world,” said Santiago Pйrez Benнtez.
He also pointed out that Cuba withstood the economic blockade, even when the Soviet Union ceased to exist. “We withstood because we showed our will. We are inspired by the example of resilience of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, the Belarusian partisans, and the entire Soviet people who achieved victory over fascism,” the ambassador emphasized.
The 2nd international interparty conference “State sovereignty and principles of international relations in the context of multipolarity and diversity in the 21st century” is taking place in Brest on 28-29 May. Before the plenary session began, representatives of political parties from Belarus and abroad visited the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. “I am deeply moved and impressed by the event we took part in this morning. The memory remains in our hearts. Heavy losses and hardships did not break the Belarusian people. They are a heroic people; they have been reborn with incredible strength,” shared William Ramуn Fariсas, a member of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and a member of the National Assembly of Venezuela.
He added that a major event for international dialogue has been organized in Brest. According to him, Venezuela promotes internationalism and contributes to the unification of peoples fighting for emancipation and freedom. “The United Socialist Party fiercely defends the achievement of full sovereignty, independence, the realization of the right to self-determination, wellbeing, and happiness for its citizens and the citizens of other states united in solidarity,” the Venezuelan politician added.
