BREST, 20 December (BelTA) - A delegation from Brest Oblast plans to visit the Vietnamese province of Lao Cai in 2024,
BelTA learned from the press service of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.
Brest Oblast signed a cooperation agreement with this Vietnamese province in 2017. The parties are gradually stepping up cooperation. A delegation of Brest Oblast intends to visit Lao Cai in the near future. This matter was on the agenda of the online meeting to review the cooperation in social welfare and economic natters. The delegation will include representatives of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the administration of the Brest Free Economic Zone, enterprises and universities.
"Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite colleagues from Lao Cai Province to visit Brest Oblast at any time convenient for them for a more detailed study of our economy, culture and social welfare sectors. In April 2024, we plan to hold the next edition of the international forum-exhibition of business contacts Brest. I am sure that the face-to-face participation of representatives of Lao Cai Province will contribute to trade and economic ties between our regions," said Brest Oblast Vice Governor Dmitry Gorodetsky.
During the online meeting, the parties agreed to work out a plan for 2024-2026 to implement the agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology and culture.
In January-October 2023 foreign trade between Brest Oblast and Vietnam amounted to $20.6 million, up by 76.6% year-on-year. Export by Brest oblast enterprises rose by almost four times.
