The volume of Belarusian investments in Russia increased by almost a quarter, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Vladimir Naumovich said at a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Belarusian Economy Ministry and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia in Brest, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Naumovich, in the first half of 2023 the share of Russian investments in the Belarusian economy exceeded 57% of total investments, a seven-year high. In turn, the volume of Belarusian investments in Russia increased by almost a quarter.
The deputy minister also spoke about the additional conditions and mechanisms for attracting Russian capital to Belarus. "The work is carried out within the framework of the relevant roadmap. This is a kind of long-term plan of action in six areas: investment, credit, financial, science and technology cooperation, projects in the real sector, agriculture and other areas. Within its framework, the National Agency for Investment and Privatization, together with the regional executive committees, is searching for potential proposals from Russia for joint promising initiatives. At the same time, it would be more effective to implement a number of measures together with government agencies and the business community of Russia. To this end, we have prepared a set of measures and sent the document to the Ministry of Economic Development. We suggest considering and, if necessary, finalizing it to submit for joint approval on the sidelines of the Belarusian Investment Forum, which will be held in Moscow on 23 November 2023," Vladimir Naumovich said.
Substantive discussions with Belarusian and foreign businesses will increase the recognition of investment opportunities in Belarus, motivate Russian partners to implement their production initiatives in Belarus, Vladimir Naumovich believes.
