Lukashenko: Agriculture is among major sectors of Belarusian economy

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to workers and veterans of agriculture and processing industry as they celebrate their professional holiday - the Day of Workers of Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Agro-Industrial Complex, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Today agriculture is among the most effective sectors of the Belarusian economy,” the head of state said. “This year our agricultural workers have grown and harvested a good crop: more than 10 million tons of grain including corn and rape, about 5 million tons of sugar beet. Agrarians provide quality and tasty products to their own population and continue to increase exports”.

The president expressed conviction that thanks to hard work and perseverance, the large-scale tasks facing the country's agro-industrial complex will be accomplished.

The head of state expressed his gratitude to the veterans of the industry and all farmers for their professionalism and responsibility, sincere love for their native land, desire to preserve and multiply the best national agricultural traditions.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished everyone good health, prosperity and high yields.
