Minister: Quality healthcare must be accessible across Belarus

BREST, 19 March (BelTA) - Healthcare must be high quality and accessible no matter where people live, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev said during the Unified Information Day at the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital, BelTA has learned.“Healthcare, with the goals set by the head of state, must be absolutely high-quality and accessible no matter where people live. Healthcare in rural communities is among priorities. The Healthcare Ministry pays attention to every step taken to downsize a facility or build a new one," Aleksandr Khodzhayev said. He highlighted the importance of feedback from citizens. For this purpose, the ministry uses various channels, including social media and chatbots.Belarus’ five-year social and economic development program highlights the healthcare development. It includes the facilities that are already under construction or reconstruction and also new projects planned across different regions. “It is important that every new facility under construction provides better quality healthcare, so that people are satisfied with the service and their health improves,” the minister said.

Issues such as women’s professional fulfillment and the retention of young specialists were also discussed during the meeting with Brest healthcare personnel. “Creating the right working atmosphere is essential for retaining personnel. It is important for a team to support one another, to be able to lend a helping hand at a critical moment, and to provide quality guidance. These issues are not new, but it is important to hear them from colleagues in order to understand the atmosphere within each specific organization, Aleksandr Khodzhayev noted.The minister was informed about the construction progress on the new wing of the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital: two buildings, four and seven storeys high. Work on the site is in full swing. Some of the equipment has been delivered; and procurement is ongoing.
