MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) - Grain yields are higher than last year’s in all regions of the country,
BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.
"As of 15 July, grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, and millet) have been harvested from 7% of the areas, or 142,000 hectares out of the planned 2,002,000 hectares. A total of 612,000 tonnes of grain have been threshed, with an average yield of 42.9 centners per hectare. This is 4.7 centners per hectare higher than in the same period of last year. Higher yields than last year's are seen in all regions,” the press service said.
By region, the progress in the harvest looks as follows: Brest Oblast – 169,000 tonnes, Minsk Oblast – 141,000 tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 139,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 110,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 41,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast –12,000 tonnes.
Winter rapeseed for grain has been harvested from 29,000 hectares or over 6% of the planned area of 441,000 hectares. A total of 62,000 tonnes have been threshed, with a yield of 21 centners per hectare.
Flax has been pulled across the area of 9,000 hectares, or 22% of the target. Pace is twice as high as last year in all regions of the country.
Second cut was harvested across an area of 476,000 hectares or 47% of the plan (1.010 million hectares).
Hay production has reached 339,000 tonnes or 47% of the plan. Silage harvest progress stands at 319,000 tonnes, or just over 1% of the target (20,519,000 tonnes). Forage grasses total 3,034,000 tonnes or30% of the target (10,131,000 tonnes).
Haylage production has reached 9,915,000 tonnes, or 69% of the target (14,309,000 tonnes). Region-by-region haylage figures are: Minsk Oblast - 2.465 million tonnes (70% of target); Brest Oblast – 1.719 million tonnes (57%); Grodno Oblast - 1.674 million tonnes (62%); Mogilev Oblast - 1.518 million tonnes (91%); Vitebsk Oblast – 1.342 million tonnes (70%); Gomel Oblast – 1.197 million tonnes (78%).
