MP: In the fight for historical truth, we must emerge victorious

18/07/2025 08:07
MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – In the fight for historical truth, we must be victorious, Marina Lenchevskaya, Member of the Legislation and Regulations Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and Chairwoman of the Legislation Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, said following a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission in Kaliningrad, Russia, BelTA has learned.

“Let me remind you that on 16 June 2025, during the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Brest, a significant decision was made to establish a commission on the preservation and protection of historical memory,” she noted. “Today, the commission’s mandate has been expanded, which is a truly significant development. Above all, the commission is responsible for preserving and defending historical memory and truth about the Great Patriotic War and World War II. Importantly, it also aims to commemorate the heroism of the Soviet people during the war and to actively counter the ideology of neo-Nazism.”

According to Marina Lenchevskaya, parliamentarians of the Union State should not allow neo-Nazism to return: “We are now engaged in our own war for historical truth. And today, we must emerge from this battle as winners,” she concluded.
