PM: Belarus spares no expense for healthcare

MINSK,2 November (BelTA) - Belarus spares no expense for healthcare, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media, BelTA has learned.

"The country spares no expense for healthcare or education. This year, we have allocated Br10.6 billion from the consolidated budget to finance healthcare. Next year we will spend Br11.5 billion on it. This is a huge amount. In U.S. dollars, terms, this is about $3.5 billion," Roman Golovchenko said.

According to him, the lion's share goes to finance salaries to doctors, social benefits, the maintenance of healthcare institutions and the purchase of medical equipment. "In January-August of this year, Belarus spent about Br700 million to buy medical equipment. Next year we will designate Br1.3 billion on these purposes. These are MRI, CT machines, angiographs, ultrasound diagnostic devices. Everything is going according to the plan," the prime minister said.

On 2 November, Roman Golovchenko took part in a ceremony to unveil the republican center for professional certification and simulation training of medical and pharmaceutical workers of the Healthcare Personnel Advanced Training and Retraining Institute of Belarusian State Medical University.
