Turchin off to Tajikistan for CIS Heads of Government Council meeting

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin has left for Tajikistan to attend a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, BelTA has learned.

The meeting will be held in Dushanbe, at first in a narrow format, and then in an expanded format. The CIS heads of government are to discuss a very broad agenda, with a focus on economic cooperation, including interaction in heavy engineering, light industry, and harmonization of national air traffic systems. Humanitarian cooperation will also be discussed, including the holding of the Volunteer Forum. In addition, there are plans to institute a badge “For the Promotion of Tourism in the Commonwealth of Independent States”.

A number of documents are to be signed during the meeting. These are documents on healthcare, inter-regional and cross-border cooperation, as well as documents related to a joint communications system of the armed forces and a unified system for monitoring and assessing the radiation, chemical and biological situation of the defense ministries of the CIS countries. Some documents planned for signing have to do with the CIS Economic Court. The updated regulation on the Council of Heads of State and Public Broadcasters of the CIS member states will be discussed.

The heads of delegations are expected to meet with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon.

While in Dushanbe, Aleksandr Turchin will hold working meetings with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.

The Belarusian head of government will also visit the Agrotekhservis enterprise. This enterprise was established on 25 February 2003. Its core is the import of tractors, other agricultural machines and equipment, their assembly, production of agricultural machinery and its sale both domestically and abroad, as well as provision of warranty and post-warranty service. The company is a partner and dealer of a number of Belarus' industry giants, including MTZ, Bobruiskagromash, Gomselmash. It runs a joint assembly facility together with Belarus.
