Belarus’ FM reveals what West wants from Lukashenko

09.09.2024 09:09
MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov spoke about what the West wants from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“The West wants the same thing from Lukashenko it wanted before. It wants Belarus to pursue the policy that the West needs today. This policy is anti-Russian, in favor of the political processes the West finds preferable,” the minister said.

According to Maksim Ryzhenkov, the West would like to bring to power in Belarus the pseudo-democratic forces, which are currently being raised and nourished there. This also includes issues of so-called economic liberalization, including the sale of state property.

“Their plans remain the same. I think that as long as the conflict involving Ukraine and Russia continues, there will be no change in the [West’s] policy,” the minister of foreign affairs said.
