MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Belarus has planted 85% of its spring crops, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“According to operational data as of 13 May 2026, spring crops have been planted on the area of 1,949,000 hectares, which accounted for 85% of the total cropland area of 2,294,000 hectares,” the press service said.
The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast – 387,000 hectares (93% of planned areas); Grodno Oblast – 293,000 hectares (88%); Minsk Oblast – 431,000 hectares (87%); Vitebsk Oblast – 259,000 hectares (81%); Mogilev Oblast – 265,000 hectares (81%); Gomel Oblast – 314,000 hectares (78%).
Corn has been sown in all regions of the country on a total area of 973,000 hectares, accounting for 76% of the plan of 1.283 million hectares.
Buckwheat has been planted across 3,000 hectares, reaching 22% of the 14,000-hectare plan. Millet has been planted across 2,000 hectares - 24% of the 8,000 hectares planned.
Mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) for the 2026 spring sowing have been stockpiled in the amount of 828,000 tonnes of active ingredient, or 99% of the plan. Organic fertilizers for spring sowing have been applied in the amount of 44 million tonnes, or 82% of the amount transported to the fields.
Potatoes have been planted on an area of more than 17,000 hectares, accounting for 77% of the plan of 22,000 hectares. By region, the percentage of planted area is: Grodno Oblast – 93%, Gomel Oblast - 88%, Brest Oblast - 84%, Mogilev Oblast - 83%, Minsk Oblast - 71%, Vitebsk Oblast - 44%.
Vegetable crops (cabbage, beets, carrots, etc.) have been planted on more than 6,000 hectares, which accounted for 73% of the plan of 8,000 hectares.
