Measures against low-quality imports in Belarus will only tighten, Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during a meeting with the business community at the Palace of Independence on 26 August, BelTA has learned.
“The government will take every measure to support domestic manufacturers rather than restrict imports. However, the measures against low-quality imports will only tighten, and I am saying this openly. We must ensure a level playing field in our market and protect our consumers from low-quality goods. The government will take the strictest possible measures in this regard,” Aleksandr Turchin assured.
The issues of fair competition and protecting the domestic market from low-quality imports were raised during a meeting with business representatives, who had been invited for a tour of the Palace of Independence. Aleksandr Turchin spoke with the entrepreneurs and addressed all their key concerns. The discussion covered a wide range of topics: fair competition and market protection, supporting local producers, quality control for imported goods, the development of farming and tourism, and funding for innovative projects. Participants also touched upon such trending issues as digitalization and the integration of AI into manufacturing.
