Belarusian retailers, suppliers obliged to ensure sufficient fruit and veg stock in stores

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No.232 “On supplies of fruit and vegetable products supply for national government needs” on 11 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

The document is aimed at ensuring stability in the consumer market and availability of fruit and vegetable products in trade facilities, especially in the off-season period.

The decree defines the mechanism of granting soft loans to retail chains to make an advance payment for 30% of fruit and vegetable products, which are laid under the state order for the needs of the retail network. Loans can be taken in Belarusian rubles with the interest rate of 3% per annum.

The document also obliges suppliers to ensure the supply of fruit and vegetable products for retail chains. In turn, retailers must ensure their availability in stores during the off-season. Administrative liability is provided for failure to fulfill these obligations.
