MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Early spring grain and leguminous crops have been sown on 22.8% of area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Spring crops were sown on 156,600 hectares, which is 6.78% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 141,000 hectares, which is 22.6% of the plan. The regional breakdown is the following: crops were sown on the area of 53,300 hectares in Brest Oblast, 3,990 hectares in Vitebsk Oblast, 17,000 hectares in Gomel Oblast, 36,200 hectares in Grodno Oblast, 22,600 hectares in Minsk Oblast, and 7,970 hectares in Mogilev Oblast.
Annual grasses were planted on 14,700 hectares, which is 8.23% of the plan. Belarus also embarked on planting flax. This crop was sown on the area of 870 hectares, which is 1.74% of the plan.
Some 300,900 hectares of land was prepared for sowing early spring crops, which is 48.3% of the target. Fertilizing is also underway: winter grains were fertilized on an area of 1.34 million hectares (87.8% of the plan), cruciferous crops for grain on an area of 355,700 hectares (82.8% of the plan), perennial grasses on arable land on an area of 171,200 hectares (18.6% of the plan), and improved grasslands on an area of 188,600 hectares (15% of the plan).
