MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – First grass in Belarus was cut on 63.8% of the area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 7 June, first grass was cut on the area of 897,200 hectares. All in all, 87.1% of grasses were harvested from the area of 781,300 hectares. Belarus harvested 60,300 tonnes of hay (8.6%), 4,190,000 tonnes of haylage (31.5%) and 189,900 tonnes of silage (0.93%). There are plans to harvest over 9.8 million tonnes of grass fodder this year; at the moment 12.7% of the plan has been harvested.
Perennial grasses were planted on the area of 242,500 hectares (99.3% of the plan).
