MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – A delegation from the Republic of Mali led by Vice-President of the Defense and Security Commission of Mali’s National Transitional Council Fousseynou Ouattara, discussed the cooperation prospects during a meeting in the Council of the Republic with the participation of a representative from the Agriculture and Food Ministry, BelTA learned from the Council of the Republic.
The parties reviewed cooperation with African countries, including assistance in the development of agriculture and supplies of Belarusian food products to Mali. “Preliminary agreements were reached on a trial batch of milk powder and other dairy products,” the press service reported.
It was noted that Belarus supplies agricultural products to 117 countries around the world, and the export of these products, together with food, is about $10 billion per year.
The delegation is set to tour a number of enterprises, including MTZ, BelAZ, and MAZ. In particular, the day before they visited Minsk Automobile Plant to see the new bus welding and assembly shop. Discussions also covered the supply of Belarusian machinery, taking into account the climatic conditions of Mali, and the possibility of adapting cargo and passenger transport for this West African country.
Fousseynou Ouattara emphasized that the mining industry is actively developing in the country, so there is also interest in road construction equipment produced in Belarus.
