Minister expects Belarus' economy to keep growing in coming months

30.10.2023 09:10

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Belarus will experience a steady economic growth in the coming months, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA reports.

“We have laid a serious foundation for economic growth over the nine months. We are now well positioned to fulfill the task set by the presidential decree - to achieve a GDP growth of 3.8% in the remaining months. Growth continued through the tenth month, thus the increase is expected to be at least +0.1 percentage point. Everything is in place for industrial output to grow, there is a demand for Belarusian products in foreign markets. Therefore, today we see a steady trend towards a decrease in warehouse stocks. And this will help replenish working capital and improve the financial standing of organizations. Therefore, everything is set for the further economic growth in the coming months,” he said.

According to the minister, the manufacturing industry continues to be the driver of growth. “It will remain so this year and next year. We estimate that the situation in agriculture will be the same as last year. The expansion of the construction sector this year also made its contribution to the overall GDP growth,” added Aleksandr Chervyakov.
