Parliament speakers of Belarus, Russia meet in St. Petersburg

Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova met with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko on the sidelines of the regular session of the IPA CIS Council in St. Petersburg, Russia on 21 November, BelTA learned.

The speakers welcomed the level of bilateral interaction. In the context of the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in early December, it was pointed out that the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Belarus and Russia fully meets the objectives set by the leaders of the two countries to deepen integration process.

Inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries has been growing. Under the auspices of the upper chambers of the parliaments of Russia and Belarus, important projects for the countries are being effectively implemented.

Natalya Kochanova and Valentina Matviyenko discussed the program of the 13th Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus to be held in Nizhny Novgorod and key events timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The speakers emphasized the successful implementation of the cultural and educational campaign Memory Train launched by the Russian and Belarusian parliamentarians. Every year the project brings together more and more high school students from the post-Soviet countries.
