The share of tax payments in the country's budget remains high and amounts to 66%, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at an extended meeting of the board of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, BelTA has learned.
“The ministry fulfilled the tasks set for 2023 by and large. Taxes are the most important element of the country’s financial system, and despite the difficult economic conditions, we receive enough tax revenues to maintain a stable macroeconomic situation. We see an increase in the number of tax payments and the amount of tax contributions to the budget. The share of tax payments in the country’s budget remains high and amounts to 66%,” said Roman Golovchenko.
According to him, the main task of the tax authorities is to make sure that the budget gets enough revenues to achieve the goals set for the government. Yet, this is only possible if the economy is strong. “When the economy has to function under difficult external conditions, sanctions, the role of tax authorities in creating a comfortable business environment remains significant,” the head of government noted.
“It is important to maintain a balance of interests of the state and business. On the one hand, we need to make sure that tax payments are made on time and in full, on the other hand, we need to take into consideration the interests of the business community and not cause unacceptable damage to it,” the prime minister emphasized.
