The joint operational and strategic exercise Combat Brotherhood 2023 that will be held on the territory of Belarus on 1-6 September is a pre-planned and transparent event, State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said during a working trip to Brest, BelTA has learned.
“The exercise was planned beforehand and it is absolutely transparent. In accordance with international requirements, Belarus and the CSTO Secretariat invited international observers, military attaches, diplomats, including from the neighboring countries of Poland and Lithuania. I don’t know if they will come. But unlike our neighbors, we demonstrate that we are open and peaceful and that our exercise and its goals are exclusively defensive,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that Western neighbors are conducting exercises on their territory, but Belarusian observers are not invited there. “Exercises are taking place across our border. They have not demonstrated any intentions yet to invite Belarusian observers,” the state secretary of the Security Council noted.
