General information about the institution: The Public Institution “Brest Regional Blood Transfusion Station” is under the direct jurisdiction of the Health Administration of the Brest Regional Executive Committee and is the organization and methodic center for blood banking and transfusion, production and application of blood preparations in the Brest Region.

Mission of the institution: organization of blood donation , banking and processing of blood, its components and preparations.

Purpose of the institution: providing of regional public health organizations with high efficiency, high-quality and safety donated blood components and preparations in good supply.

Diagnostic capability:

Laboratory of immunological standards

• Blood grouping and Rh-testing for woman;
• Blood grouping and Rh-testing for husband;
• Seroscopy test of Rh-negative women for Rh-antibody presence and titer.

Clinical laboratory

1. Hematological studies :
   • by manual methods ;
   • by automatic methods with use of hematologic analyzer AcT5 Beckman- Coulter, USA (study in 26 parameters during 1 minute).
2. Biochemical studies :
   • test of total protein in blood serum by biuret method;
   • activity test of alanine transaminase in blood serum by kinetic method. Study with use of spectroelectrophotometer "Solar".
3. Immunological studies :
   • Blood grouping and Rh-testing with use of polyclonal reagents and monoclonal antibodies.

1. Blood examination:
   • HIV antibody assay
   • НВsAg antibody assay
   • а/НСV antibody assay
2. EIA-test for syphilis
