Аmbient air protection

14/03/2013 10:03

The monitoring of ambient air of the area shows, that the average annual concentration of polluting substances do not exceed the established standards.

The emissions to the ambient air have decreased from 186 thousand tons in 2000 to 173 thousand tons in 2004. To the share of motor transport falls 83 % of total emission. Emissions from stationary sources tend to decrease, and from automobiles are stabilized, despite of the increase of their quantity.

Measures on decrease of the quantity of polluting substances in the ambient air are carried out at the enterprises of the region. 38 air pollution control systems were installed in 2005. Their capacity is 147,5 thousand m3/hour, the volume of expenses for their introduction amounted to 305694 thousand roubles and the annually effect of emissions’ decrease is equal to 118 tons.

It is impossible to solve problems of ambient air pollution on local and even national level. Therefore in 1979 was signed the Convention for the Transboundary Air Pollution for Long Distances which was the first international agreement in the field of embient air protection. The convention obliges the countries which have signed it, to reduce emissions through carrying out necessary actions. Many of them are successfully carried out in Brest area. Gasification of the 5 districts of Polesski region and subsequent transfering of fuel consumption installations to the gas will allow to exclude sulphurous anhydride and suspended matters from emissions in the quantity of 10-12 thousand tons annually.

Works on transference of energy power station, Zapadny boiler-house in Pinsk, Luninets and Stolin boiler-houses to gas fuel are completed in 2005. Decrease in emissions to the atmosphere owing to these objects has made about 3 thousand tons yearly.

On January, 1, 2006 the inventory of polluting substances emissions to the atmosphere was carried out and 2882 subjects of nature management in the region were given license.

Realization of gasolines containing the additives of lead is stopped in the Brest region. The maintenance of sulfur is constantly reducing in the petrol supplied to Belarusian oil-refining factories.

With the purpose of emissions’ decrease from automobiles was developed the Republican program of gas use for vehicles as a motor fuel for 2003-2005 and for the period till 2010.

111 subjects of nature management of the region received licenses for the right for the use of ozone wrecking substances in the context of the observance of the Law of Belarus «On protection of the ozone layer». Strong freons were taken out in Brest region in accordance to the conditions of the Viennese convention on protection of the ozone layer and the Montreal protocol on the substances destroying the ozone layer. Transportation across the Byelorussian border of ozone wrecking substances and production containing them is supervised by the government.
