Brest Oblast Hospital and the University Hospital of Strasbourg will sign an agreement on cooperation, BelTA learned from Head Doctor of Brest Oblast Hospital Alexander Karpitsky.
The visit of a delegation from the University Hospital of Strasbourg led by President Christophe Gautier is scheduled for 11-13 December. The delegation will also comprise Professor Gilbert Massard, the chairman of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, one of the outstanding specialists in transplantology. The visit is organized in cooperation with the Honorary Consulate of France in Brest.
“We have been cooperating with this hospital for two years already. Ten medical workers of Brest Oblast Hospital, namely seven doctors and three nurses, underwent on-the-job training there. Among the doctors trained in Strasbourg were surgeons, anaesthesiologists and pulmonologists. The training courses focused on new methods used in the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, anesthesia in operations,” said the head doctor of Brest Oblast Hospital.
The parties worked out an agreement to strengthen cooperation, add a new impetus and consistency to it. “We have already discussed the foundation of our cooperation, first of all in training our medical workers. If we talk about the future, this will include the introduction of new operations with the participation of Professor Gilbert Massard at Brest Oblast Hospital,” Alexander Karpitsky said.
Honorary Consul of France to Brest Leonid Stayetsky noted that the cooperation between Belarusian and French doctors based on personal contacts has been gradually reaching the level of an important social project. “With the signing of the contract, it will be easier for us to work together. We will be able to send more doctors on training courses, hold consultations for our patients and organize master classes. Our cooperation will enter a new level,” the diplomat added.
