Contracts worth $2.1 million were signed during the first forum of sister cities and partners of Brest on 26 July, Brest First Vice Mayor Vadim Kravchuk told the media, BelTA has learned.
The event is attended by business representatives of Belarus, delegations from 13 countries. Some 20 cooperation agreements in various fields and contracts worth $2.1 million were signed during the forum. “Having organized the forum, we have made a step towards greater visibility and attractiveness of our city, including among investors. For them, we have a number of preferences in taxation, customs, land provisions and others,” Vadim Kravchuk said.
In particular, a contract for the supply of tea and tea herbal drinks was signed with Georgian partners. In turn, the Berkli farm will supply blueberry seedlings to that country. First Chocolate Factory and Brest Plant of Household Chemicals will cooperate with Izhevsk. Brestgortrans transport company and OAO Brest Bus Fleet intend to actively interact with Polish partners in the transport sector. Brest schools No.14 and No.10 signed cooperation agreements with academic institutions of Vranov nad Toplou (Slovakia) and Boguchwala (Poland) respectively.
“The forum will be made a regular event. We see an interest on the part of our sister cities. In the afternoon the participants are visiting companies, getting familiar with the industrial potential of the city. This may lead to new contracts,” Vadim Kravchuk said.
