Results of Social Economic Development of Brest Region for January-March, 2008
For January-March, 2008 by the region has been secured a positive dynamics of growth of the main indicators of social economic development compared to January-February, 2008.
The rates of growth compared to the analogical period of the year 2007 for 3 months of the current year have composed correspondingly:
- as for the amounts of industrial production calculated on the basis of the dynamics of the fixed set of representative goods production, the rate composed 114,0% against 107,5% for January-February, 2008 (increase by 6,5 percentage points);
- as for the amounts of industrial production in the compared prices – the rate made 113,2 % against 109,8% for January-February (increase by 3,4 p.p.);
- as for the output of consumer goods the rate made 113,9 % against 109,8% for January-February (increase by 4,1 p.p.);
- as for the investments amounts in basic capital of the organizations subordinate to the local executive and administrative organs and those without department subordination the rate made 128,8% against 128,4% for January-February (increase by 0,4 p.p);
- as for the gross agricultural production in all ranks of economy the rate made 107,2% against 106,9% for January-February (increase by 0,3 p.p.).
INDUSTRY
The rates of growth of the industrial production amounts and consumer goods output composed correspondingly:
- as for the enterprises subordinate to the Republican authorities of administration made 113,3% and 113,4% correspondingly ;
- as for the enterprises subordinate to local Deputies councils – 108,9% and 112,6% correspondingly ;
- as for the enterprises without department subordination – 116,8% and 116,1% correspondingly .
The highest growth rates of industrial production amounts are achieved in timber, wood processing and cellulose and paper industry (the rate of growth 118,9% ), sewing industry (114,2%) , food (117,2%) , etc.
Among the districts of the region the highest rates of growth of industrial production are achieved in Ivanovo (244,7% to the level of January-March, 2007), Maloryta (206,5%) and Zhabinka (134,7%) districts.
As for the consumer goods production the greatest result is achieved in Maloryta (225,3% to the level of January-March, 2007), Zhabinka (175,7%) and Kamieniets (128,7%) districts.
FOREIGN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY
The volumes of the external trade of goods for January-February, 2008 made 433,2 mln USD (132,7% to the level of January-February of the past year), including export – 249,3 mln USD (138,3%), import – 183,8 mln USD (125,7%), positive balance of goods made 65,5 mln USD (in January-February, 2007 the balance composed +33,9 mln USD).
By the results of January-February, 2008 export of services made 22,0 mln USD (166,0% to the level of January-February of the past year), import of services arrived at 5,9 mln USD (250,5%), positive balance of services made 16,2 mln USD.
The high growth rate of import of goods is determined by increase of investments, (amount 23,0 mln USD, rate of growth – 159,5%), intermediate (103,9 mln USD, 126,7%) and consumer (56,6 mln USD, 123,1%) import.
The increase of intermediate import is provoked by the necessity of getting raw materials, component parts, animal feed from abroad for normal functioning of economic subjects of the region, production capacity loading and build-up of production amounts. For the most part the imported production is not produced or produced in not sufficient number in the Republic.
The increase of investments import is bound with growth of number of the imported equipment for modernization and expansion of production by subjects of economy of the region.
To the group of imported consumer goods belongs the production imported by enterprises of the region, including the free economic zone “ Brest ” designed for further processing (mainly fish, meat and other food production, second hand clothes, etc.). A certain range of goods from the consumer group belongs to a category of critical import: passenger cars, medicines, fruit not growing in the Republic.
The Republican unitary production enterprise “Baranovichy Air Repairs Plant” (transporting airplane for carrying out repair works) – 1,9 mln USD, in January-February, 2007 – 0,1 mln USD.
INVESTMENTS IN BASIC CAPITAL
For January-March, 2008 for development of economy and social sphere of the region have been used 689,8 billion roubles of the investments in basic capital , or 140,7% to the level of January-March, 2007, including organizations subordinate to the Republican authorities of the State administration – 166,5%.
As for organizations of local subordination and those without department subordination 436,4 billion roubles of the investments in basic capital have been used (rate of growth made 128,8% by the target of 125,0%).
AGRICULTURE
The rate of growth of gross agricultural production has made in all categories of the economy 107,2%, including public sector – 110,4%, private and subsidiary husbandries of the population – 92,5%.
A decrease of the production of public sector has been caused by unfavourable demographical situation at village.
Livestock and poultry production has increased by 10,6% on the whole in the region, gross milk yield – by 9,7%, egg production – by 0,7%.
The indicators of livestock productivity: average daily weight increments of cattle have grown by 6% and made 569 grams, pigs – by 8,6% and 519 grams, milk yield from 1 cow has increased by 8,2% and made 1018 kg.
The number of cattle stock has grown by 1,6%, including cows – by 1,8%, pigs – by 1,3%.
The task on delivery of livestock and poultry for the regional State needs has been carried out by 102,3%, as for delivery of milk – by 100,3%. Meat processing plants (including the meat processing plant of the JSC “Bieloviezhsky”) have been supplied with 82,3% of the slaughtered livestock. The marketability of milk has increased by 0,3 percentage points and made 87,1%.
As for April 14, 2008 44,1% of areas have been prepared for sowing, 38,8% of spring cultures planted, including grain and legume crops (without corn, buckwheat and millet) 91,5%. 85,1% of perennial grasses and 63,2% of hayfields and pastures have been feed up.
CONSUMER MARKET
For January-March, 2008 the growth rate of retail trade goods through all channels of realization has made 116,0 to the level of January-March, 2007.
The amount of paid services rendered to population through all channels of realization by the results of January-February, 2008 has made 110,8% to the level of January-February, 2007, including consumer services – 132,6%.
The level of profitability for January-February, 2008 has made 9,4% on the whole in the region and increased by 1,8 p.p. compared to the analogical period of the year 2007.
