In January-February, 2008 the region has provided a positive dynamics of growth of the main indicators of social economic development compared to January, 2008.
The rate of growth for 2 months of the current year compared to the analogical period of the year 2007 composed correspondingly:
- whereby the amounts of industrial production calculated on the basis of the dynamics of the fixed set of representative goods production, the rate composed 107,5% against 107,1% for January, 2008 (increase by 0,4 percentage points);
- as for the amounts of industrial production in the compared prices – the rate made 109,8% against 106,9% for January (increase by 2,9 p.p.);
- as for the output of consumer goods the rate made 109,8% against 105,2% for January (increase by 1,9 p.p.);
- as for the gross agricultural production in all ranks of economy the rate made 106,9% against 105,0% for January (increase by 4,6 p.p.);
- as for the investments amounts in basic capital the rate made 143,8% against 119,5% for January (increase by 24,8 p.p.);
- as for the retail sales volumes the rate made 116,4% against 113,3% for January (increase by 3,1 p.p.).
Industry
The rates of growth of the industrial production amounts and consumer goods output compared to the analogical period of the past year composed correspondingly:
- as for the enterprises subordinate to the Republican authorities of administration made 107,7% and 101,8% correspondingly;
- as for the enterprises subordinate to local Deputies councils – 107,8% and 113,6% correspondingly;
- as for the enterprises without department subordination – 115,5% and 113,7% correspondingly.
In the spectrum of branches the highest rates of industrial production amounts are achieved in timber, wood processing and cellulose and paper industry (the rate of growth 116,1%), sewing industry (116,9%), flour and cereals and compound feed (116,3%), etc.
Among the districts of the region the highest rates of growth are achieved:
- as for the industrial production amounts – in Ivanovo district (216,1% to the level of January-February, 2007), Maloryta district (166,6%), Stolyn ditrict (130,2%);
- as for the consumer goods production – in Gantsevichy district (133,7% to the level of January-February, 2007), in Baranovichy district (121,1%) and Berioza district (120,6%).
Foreign economic activity
The volumes of the external trade of Brest region for January, 2008 made 200,3 mln USD (126,5% to the level of January of the past year), including:
- export – 122,4 mln USD (139,7%);
- import – 77,9 mln USD (110,2%);
- positive balance – 44,4 mln USD (January, 2007 positive balance – 16,9 mln USD).
The volumes of the external trade with the states of CIS made 129,9 mln USD (142,1% to the level of January, 2007), including export 106,8 mln (152,6 %), import 23,0 mln (107,6%). The positive balance of foreign trade arrived at 83,8 mln USD (48,6 mln for January, 2007).
The amounts of foreign trade with the Russian Federation composed 108,9 mln USD (144,4% to the level of January, 2007), including export 93,2 mln (152,7 %), import 15,8 mln (109,2 %). The positive blance of foreign trade made +77,4 mln USD (+46,6 mln for January, 2007).
Agriculture
The rate of the gross agricultural production growth in all ranks of economy made 106,9% by the forecast of 108,5% for the year, including that in the public sector – 110,1%, population – 92,2%.
The negative influence on the gross production indicator in all ranks of economy has reduction of production in the private sector because of the unfavorable demographic situation in rural areas.
By the results of work for 2 months of the current year realization of livestock and bird, in general, has increased in the region by 8,4%, gross milk yield – by 11,1%, egg production cut down by 2%. The indicators of productivity of general livestock have been significantly improved: average daily weight gains of bovine cattle rose by 7,2% and made 563 grams, pigs – by 8,5% and amounted to 513 grams, milk yield from one cow has increased by 9,5% and made 643 kg.
Because of the easy winter a spring seeding started in earlier terms. On March 27, 2008 has been sown 39,6 thous. ha of spring planted cultures (10,9% to the plan). Planted are 24,6% of perennial herbs, feed 56,5% of winter crops, 81,1% of winter rape, 57,8% of perennial herbs and 33,8% of grasslands.
Stored up of organic fertilizers are 111,2% to the plan and 114,3% to the level of the year 2007, taken out 100,7% to the plan, brought in for spring planting – 59,3%.
Investments
For January-February, 2008 for development of the economy and the social sphere of the region have been used 402,9 billions roubles of the investments in basic capital, or 143,8% to the level of January-February, 2007, including organizations subordinate the Republican authorities of State administration – 177,6%, local Deputies councils and those without department subordination – 128,4%.
Retail sales volumes, including public catering, through all channels of realization in January-February, 2008 amounted 787,6 billions roubles, which in compared prices is by 16,4% larger than those in January-February, 2007.
In January, 2008 paid services rendered to population through all channels of realization amounted 114,0 billions roubles, or in compared prices 110,4 % to the level of January, 2007.
The rate of growth of communication services rendered to population by legal entities in January, 2008 in compared prices made 109,8% to the level of January, 2007; that of cultural services – 107,1%, tourist and excursion services – 138%, physical culture and sports services – 150,4%, medical services – 121,3%, educational services – 118,1%. Housing and public utilities services in January, 2008 in compared prices to January, 2007 amounted 105,7%, including housing utilities services – 107,6%, public utilities services – 105,3%.
In the total amount of paid services rendered to population through all channels of realization the amount of consumer services in January, 2008 made 13,5 billions roubles, which in compared prices is by 28,8% larger than in January, 2007.
The level of profitability in the region for January, 2008, in general, made 9,0% and increased by 1,3 p.p. compared to the analogical period of the year 2007. The profitability rose by 2,2 and made 9,9% in industry, rose by 1,8 p.p. and made 10,9% in agriculture, rose by 5,1 p.p. in construction.
